- The passengers in the taxis were played by non-professional actors whose identities remained unknown.
- This is Jafar Panahi's third film made since he received a 20-year ban on filmmaking due to anti-government activities and participation in protests against the official results of the 2009 Iranian elections.
- To avoid attracting attention, additional lighting could not be used in the taxi. Instead, Jafar Panahi made a hatch in the car's roof, thereby obtaining enough light for filming.
- His previous two films – “This Is Not a Film” (2011) and “Closed Curtain” (2013) – were secretly filmed by Jafar Panahi at his home. This film was shot on the streets of Tehran, but the camera never left the taxi.
- Three compact "Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera" cameras were used to film the movie.
