Short description
Industrious high school senior Vee Delmonico has had it with living life on the sidelines. When pressured by friends to join the popular online game Nerve, Vee decides to sign up for just one dare in what seems like harmless fun. But as she finds herself caught up in the thrill of the adrenaline-fueled competition partnered with a mysterious stranger, the game begins to take a sinister turn with increasingly dangerous acts, leading her into a high stakes finale that will determine her entire future.
What's left behind the scenes
- When saying goodbye to each other, Vee and Sidney touch their own noses. In the novel of the same name (2012) by Jean Ryan, on which the film is based, these characters specifically learned sign language to communicate with each other and be sure that those around them would not understand.
- According to directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, explicit sexual tasks for the video game participants were cut from the film to make it suitable for younger viewers.
- At the beginning of the film, the heroine played by Emma Roberts is browsing news on a computer screen. On the right side of the news page, an article about James Franco, the brother of the actress's co-star Dave Franco, is visible.
