What's left behind the scenes

  • Amy Winehouse’s closest relatives were initially willing to cooperate with the film’s producers and director, as they had heard about the success of their previous documentary, “Senna” (2010). They promised the filmmakers access to archival video footage of Amy and her family. However, Amy's father, Mitch Winehouse, soon noticed that the filmmakers were paying much more attention to the negative aspects of Amy’s life than to the positive ones, and that the archival footage had been edited in such a way that the resulting story distorted the facts, especially the last three years of Amy’s life. Mitch Winehouse said that Amy’s fans would be better off treating the film as a collection of rare footage featuring her, and that they should not pay attention to the way Amy is portrayed in the film.
