What's left behind the scenes
- Filming took place in the areas of Denmark where the events depicted in the film actually occurred, specifically in Vardø.
- In the film, the mine-clearing operation is commanded by Sergeant Rasmussen of the Danish army. In reality, these operations were commanded by German officers under the overall direction of the British.
- According to director Martin Zandvliet, the young actors had no idea during filming when their characters were supposed to die. This made them feel extremely vulnerable and lonely, which had a very positive effect on their performances.
