What's left behind the scenes
- The film is dedicated to the memory of producer Igor Khait, who passed away at the age of 52 from pancreatic cancer while working on the film.
- At the time of release, it was the longest project from Illumination Entertainment.
- This is Taron Egerton's first animated film.
- Rosita's piglets are voiced by the sons of director Garth Jennings – Oscar, Leo, Caspar, and Ace.
- The singing style of the elephant Mina is based on that of the Italian singer Mina.
- For security purposes, the film was distributed to cinemas in boxes labeled 'Sixpence'.
- Ash starts tapping her foot when her guitar is unplugged. If a porcupine is frightened, it will beat its paw on the ground as a warning.
- When the bison steps on the snail, the 'Wilhelm scream' is heard in the film (this is a frequently used sound effect in film and television).
- When Johnny rushes to the theater, it can be noticed that he himself caused the accident that created a traffic jam on the road.
- Each song from the final performance has its own implicit meaning for the cartoon characters. Rosita’s song with Gunter expresses her desire to escape the family routine. Johnny’s song reflects his experiences after the breakup with his father. Mike’s song suits both himself, summing up his life (first and last verses), and Johnny’s father, who realized his mistake and came to reconcile with his son (second verse). Mina’s song expresses her overcoming of her own fears.
