  • An early draft of the script included a romantic relationship for Temple Grandin, but Grandin herself objected to this, as she has never been in a romantic relationship.
  • Temple Grandin’s remark about wanting her life to have meaning and her ideas not to die with her was made during a conversation with neurologist Oliver Sacks when he was writing an article about Grandin for The New Yorker.
  • The Emmy statuette awarded to Julia Ormond for her role in this film is displayed at the Autism and Brain Development Center in New York. The actress gifted it to Temple Grandin, whom she portrayed in the film, on November 19, 2010, and together they donated the statuette to the Center on May 8, 2016, in honor of all women raising children with autism.
