What's left behind the scenes
- The slogan on the poster, "You won't even see him coming," is a reference to the Predator race, as well as to the science fiction film by writer and director Shane Black, "Iron Man 3" (2013), in which the Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley, uttered this phrase – only about himself.
- Riding the wave of the box office success of Shane Black's action film "Iron Man 3" (2013), 20th Century Fox offered the director a budget comparable to that of "Iron Man 3" and proposed that he film a new installment in the "Predator" series. Black immediately agreed.
- Benicio Del Toro was originally slated to star, but the actor was forced to leave the project due to a busy schedule and was replaced by Boyd Holbrook.
- The character of Bixley (Thomas Jane) suffers from Tourette's syndrome. Shane Black has the same condition.
- The entire storyline involving the character of Edward James Olmos was cut from the final version.
