What's left behind the scenes

  • During the funeral, Green Day plays a somber version of one of their most famous songs – "American Idiot".
  • The Bart Simpson inscription on the school blackboard in the opening credits reads “I will not illegally download this movie.”
  • During a walk with Bart Simpson, Ned tells him that Springfield borders four states: Ohio, Nevada, Maine, and Kentucky, which is impossible in reality because these states are located at different ends of the USA.
  • The English proverb “Home sweet home” is played on twice in the film: after the dome is installed, Marge embroiders a rug with the inscription “Dome sweet dome.” Upon arriving in Alaska, Marge embroiders the same rug with the inscription “Nome sweet Nome” (Nome being a city in Alaska).
  • In one of the shots, you can notice an inscription in Russian that says: “Learn to speak English or get out!”
  • Arnold Schwarzenegger is the President of the USA in the film, although this is impossible in real life as only a person born in the USA can be President of America.
  • During the credits, Maggie says her first word – “sequel,” hinting at a continuation. However, in the eighteenth episode of the nineteenth season, Marge, after Lisa’s unsuccessful documentary about her family, said: “No more Simpsons in the movies.”
  • There are 16 Springfields in the US, and the premiere took place in Springfield, which is located in the state of Vermont.
  • In the crowd heading to riot at the Simpsons' house, you can spot a character from the series “Futurama” (1999) – Fry.
  • Cletus Spackler's phrase “I can’t, I just can’t!” – is from the film “One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest” (1975).
  • In Alaska, as Homer enters the house, various birds and animals also run in, and the soundtrack from Walt Disney's cartoon “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937) plays. The aforementioned moment is a parody of three Disney full-length films – “Cinderella” (1949), “Bambi” (1942), and “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937).
  • Homer plays the game “Grand Theft Walrus,” which is a reference to the “Grand Theft Auto” series of games.
  • A cassette with the inscription “Play me” is a reference to the film “Saw” (2004).
  • The episode where the crane ricochets Homer from the house to a rock, and Homer in turn screams “rock – tree, rock – tree!” is a reference to the Warner Bros. animated film “The Iron Giant” (1999). These two words are the first thing the Giant says, and the first thing Hogarth teaches him.
  • Mo claims at the end of the film that after the riot, he became the Emperor of Springfield.
  • Abe Simpson’s prophecy originally reads: “Horrible, horrible things are going to happen, twisted tail, ee pa, ee pa, a thousand eyes, trapped forever,” which means: “Terrible, terrible things are coming, hooked tail, ee pa, ee pa, a thousand eyes, trapped forever.” “Hooked tail” refers to the pig Homer saved; “ee pa” is EPA; “a thousand eyes” is a reference to the mutated beast; “trapped forever” is a reference to the dome being installed.
  • Above the church entrance it reads “Springfield Church. Please turn off your cell phone.” However, while Abe Simpson is delivering the prophecy, the comic book guy films it on his phone. At the end of the film, the previous phrase is replaced with: “We warned you.” Neither of these signs is present in the middle of the film.
  • Green Day performs on a barge on Springfield Lake to draw residents' attention to environmental problems, but their barge begins to sink due to the lake's toxicity. As the barge starts to submerge, bassist Mike Dirnt quotes Wallace Hartley from the film *Titanic* (1997): "Gentlemen, it has been an honor playing with you this evening." The musicians pull out violins and begin to play the hymn "Nearer, My God, to Thee."
  • While Marge and the children are traveling to Springfield by train, Bart, rummaging through someone else's luggage, puts a black bustier on his head and declares it a symbol of corporate evil. Bart himself resembles Mickey Mouse and Mom from the series *Futurama* (1999).
