• Donnie Yen's wife publicly expressed concerns that her husband might be injured in a fight with Mike Tyson. However, it turned out that Tyson was the one who got injured, damaging his index finger, not Yen.
• As part of preparing for filming fight scenes with Mike Tyson, Donnie Yen specifically studied video recordings of Tyson's previous fights.
• Initially, the film's producers considered using computer technology to give one of the characters the appearance of Bruce Lee, but they had to abandon this idea when the heirs of Bruce Lee threatened legal action, stating that they had not given official permission to use Lee's likeness.
• The film portrays Bruce Lee as one of Ip Man's students, when in reality he simply trained at Ip Man's school. He was actually taught there by Ip Man's student named Wong Shun Leung. Wong participated in underground fights, where he was reportedly undefeated. He left the world of underground fighting after accidentally blinding an opponent in one match. Throughout his life, Wong apparently had several students, some of whom trained with him for a few months, others for longer.
