What's left behind the scenes

  • Mick Jagger was originally considered for the role of Ferreter.
  • Steve Martin auditioned for the role of Brad.
  • The role of the criminologist was offered to actor Vincent Price, but he declined due to a busy schedule with other projects.
  • Oakley Court castle in Berkshire, where the film was shot, previously served as a location for several well-known horror films, including 'The Plague of the Zombies' (1966). The castle is a Victorian country house.
  • As a tradition during screenings of the film, the audience actively participates: reciting lines in unison and dancing. Some viewers bring items symbolizing a particular character, and 'virgins' (those who have not yet participated in similar revelry) are greeted by the chorus and undergo a kind of 'initiation ritual'.
  • In Quentin Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' (1994), one of the characters (Anthony Roccamora – Mia Wallace's bodyguard, crippled by Marcellus Wallace, who is never shown) asks to be called Rocky Horror.
  • In 2005, the film was included in the National Film Registry of the U.S. Library of Congress.
