- The film's title coincides with the title of a song by Neil Diamond, which was performed by Johnny Cash (1932-2003) at the beginning of the film. Johnny Cash was repeatedly referred to as the “Man in Black” due to his love of black clothing. Michael Douglas’ character almost constantly wears black, with rare exceptions.
