What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on Peter Ackroyd's novel "Dan Leno and the Limehouse Golem," also known as "The Trial of Elizabeth Creep." The book was published in 1994.
- Alan Rickman was originally slated to star in the film, but he left the project after being diagnosed with cancer. Following Rickman's death, Bill Nighy was offered the role. The actor said it was an honor to take his place, as he had always greatly admired Alan Rickman and his work.
