What's left behind the scenes
- When working on Tarzan's movement in the fog, the animators based it on the movements of professional skateboarder Tony Hawk on a board.
- A specially created computer program called Deep Canvas was used in the making of the cartoon, allowing two-dimensional characters to be inserted into a three-dimensional space.
- Woody Allen was originally cast to voice Tantor the elephant, but DreamWorks Animation SKG CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg convinced him to voice Zed in the animated film *Antz* (1998), which was being worked on at the time.
