Short description
A family's road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked killers pay them a visit to test the family's every limit as they struggle to survive.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Christina Hendricks agreed to the role in the film without reading the script, as she is a fan of the original *The Strangers* with Liv Tyler.
  • The film gives a key role in creating the atmosphere to 80s musical hits, among which Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" stands out.
  • The action of the film unfolds in a trailer park near Gatlin Lake. The town of Gatlin is also the setting for Fritz Kiersch's film "Children of the Corn" (1984), based on the short story of the same name (1978) by Stephen King.
  • One of the film's characters – a strange car that possesses its own mind – is taken from Stephen King's novel "Christine," later adapted for the screen by John Carpenter.
  • The film contains direct references to Steven Spielberg's "Duel," John Carpenter's "Halloween" and "Christine," and there are also dedications to the legendary "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" and the film "Malèna" starring Monica Bellucci and Sophie Marceau.
  • When Kincaid tries to escape from the Doll in the police car, it knocks on the door glass and mockingly shows Kincaid the keys. This scene is a reference to Wes Craven's slasher film "Scream" (1996).
