For travel to filming locations in the business district of Hopewell, the film crew used a bicycle. After filming concluded, everyone who rode it, along with Daniel Radcliffe, signed it, and the bicycle was then ceremoniously gifted to the city. It was sold at auction for $2,000, with the proceeds donated to the local United Way Worldwide branch – the world's largest non-profit organization.
The prototype for the main character is FBI agent Michael German.
The film’s original title, Imperium (Latin), is used in German to mean “empire” and is a synonym for “Reich” (but is not applied to the German Empire or the Third Reich). English-speaking neo-Nazis constantly talk about a Western empire, referring to their future global empire.
