What's left behind the scenes
- It is considered a sequel, but the film's plot has no connection to the plot of Steve Miner's 1985 original film.
- As part of the promotional campaign, props such as crystal skull-shaped nightlights were sent to some cinemas in advance.
- Ethan Wiley was given only two weeks to write the screenplay.
- According to Devin DeVasquez, who played the virgin, a heavy prop skull was accidentally dropped on her head during the filming of her sacrifice scene, resulting in a concussion. The actress was immediately taken to the hospital, but the producers were very worried she might sue them.
