- An incident occurred during filming in Spain. Seven bulls involved in rehearsals escaped directly from the set.
- The film was shot in Boston, Los Angeles, Salzburg (Austria), Seville (Spain), and Port Antonio (Jamaica).
- Cruise turned down "Knight and Day" in favor of "The Tourist" and "Salt," as he found them too similar to "Mission: Impossible." He was attracted to "Knight and Day" by its "comedic elements."
- Originally, Eva Mendes and Chris Tucker were supposed to play the lead roles.
- Chris Tucker, Adam Sandler, and Gerard Butler auditioned for the role that went to Tom Cruise.
