In downtown Manhattan, a twenty-something boy whose Father is not around and whose Mother is institutionalized, is a big Charlie Parker fan. He almost subconsciously searches for more meaning in his life and meets a few characters along the way.
What's left behind the scenes
- Jim Jarmusch's first feature film.
- The film was made with money received as a grant to cover tuition at New York University film school. Jarmusch never repaid the money, nor did he receive his diploma afterward – that only happened years later.
- Jean-Michel Basquiat was present in the apartment while scenes were being filmed there (he was sleeping on the floor in a sleeping bag).
