- To avoid confusion with the film “Fifty Shades of Grey,” screenwriter Ben York Jones suggested changing the original title “Between Shades of Gray” to “Ashes in the Snow,” striving to preserve the essence and meaning.
- Over 700 extras participated in the deportation scene – many of whom had actually been subjected to deportation themselves.
- Filming took place from January to April 2016, but it was released in limited release in the U.S. only in January 2019.
