Short description
Genius Belgian detective Hercule Poirot investigates the murder of an American tycoon aboard the Orient Express train.

What's left behind the scenes

  • A film adaptation of an Agatha Christie detective novel.
  • The "Orient Express" ran on various routes. The "classic" "Orient Express" ran from Paris to Istanbul via Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, Budapest, and Bucharest. The train in this film, judging by the announcements at the stations, is the Venice-Simplon Orient Express, which travels through Milan, Venice, Belgrade, and Sofia.
  • Kenneth Branagh had some doubts about his character's mustache, but he took comfort in the fact that it was mentioned 15 times in the original novel of the same name (Agatha Christie, 1933).
  • To add realism to the landscapes passing by the windows, giant screens were installed on the set, onto which these landscapes were projected. These views even made Josh Gad, who played Hector, feel seasick.
  • A significant part of the cast and extras consisted of friends and acquaintances of Kenneth Branagh, whom he had either already filmed, filmed with himself, or drawn from Kenneth Branagh's theatre company.
  • Barbiturate, which the detective mentioned while examining the crime scene, is a sleeping pill that is odorless. However, the detective realized it was barbiturate simply by sniffing the coffee cup.
