Short description
Samantha Kingston has everything. Then, everything changes. After one fateful night, she wakes up with no future at all. Trapped into reliving the same day over and over, she begins to question just how perfect her life really was.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on Lauren Oliver's novel "Before I Fall" (2010).
  • Filming began on November 16, 2015, in British Columbia, continued in the vicinity of Vancouver, and ended on December 19, 2015.
  • In addition to the adaptation of "Before I Fall," Zoey Deutch and Halston Sage had previously played leading roles in other films based on young adult literature: Zoey in "Vampire Academy," and Halston in "Paper Towns."
  • Logan Miller and Halston Sage had previously starred together in the film "Scouts vs. Zombies".
  • The filming period for the film took 24 days.
  • Many films have been made about the same theme of the main character being forced to relive the same day over and over again. Here are just a few of them: "Groundhog Day" (Harold Ramis, 1992), "12:01 PM" (Jack Sholder, 1993), "12 Dates of Christmas" (James Hayman, 2011), "Source Code" (Duncan Jones, 2011), "Pete's Christmas" (Nisha Ganatra, 2013), "Edge of Tomorrow" (Doug Liman, 2014), "Yes, No, Maybe So" (Ron Oliver, 2015), and others.
  • At the beginning of the film, Samantha is preparing for a class, the topic of which will be the myth of Sisyphus. After his death, the gods sentenced this king of Corinth to eternal punishment – he had to roll a huge stone up a mountain, which, upon reaching the top, immediately fell and rolled back down. This plot is similar to the situation Samantha found herself in. She too is unable to change her fate until, finally, she has an epiphany.
