- The Manchester Massacre (in English-speaking countries, more commonly known as the Peterloo Massacre) was a clash on August 16, 1819, in St. Peter's Square in Manchester between unarmed civilians and orator Henry Hunt and the police and hussars following a peaceful rally demanding universal suffrage.
- The film was released on the bicentennial of the Peterloo Massacre (a clash between civilians and an orator with police and hussars after a rally demanding universal suffrage, resulting in 11 deaths and 400 to 700 injuries).
- In reality, there were 200 extras, so 90% of the crowd at the rally appeared in St. Peter's Square in Manchester thanks to computer technology. This episode was filmed in Tilbury, London, with many buildings added to the shot using computer-generated imagery.
