Short description
Two brothers and their wives meet up at a haute-cuisine restaurant to discuss what to do about a horrific crime that their sons committed together. As the quartet debate their options, the conversation reopens old wounds between the siblings.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on the bestseller by Herman Koch, "The Dinner." There were already two adaptations: the Dutch film of the same name, Het Diner (Menno Meyjes, 2013), and the Italian film "Our Boys" (Ivano De Matteo, 2014).
- Initially, it was planned that Kate Blanchett would direct the film and Oren Moverman would write the screenplay, but Oren Moverman ultimately directed the film.
- Richard Gere and Laura Linney have previously worked together on "Primal Fear" (1996) and "The Mothman Prophecies" (2001). Gere had also previously worked with director Oren Moverman on "Rampart".
- Initially, Kate Blanchett was planned to direct the film, and Oren Moverman was to write the screenplay.
