Short description
Acclaimed writer and historian Deborah E. Lipstadt must battle for historical truth to prove the Holocaust actually occurred when David Irving, a renowned denier, sues her for libel.

What's left behind the scenes

  • All the dialogues in the courtroom are taken from real life – from the records of actual cases.
  • The courtroom scenes were filmed in the building of the Kingston-upon-Thames Crown Court in outer London. It houses a courthouse that was used for its intended purpose until the early 1990s, and since then has been used exclusively by filmmakers.
  • Rachel Weisz and a small film crew received permission to film in Auschwitz, the concentration camp where the Nazis tortured nearly a million Jews.
  • The lawsuit around which the film's plot revolves was filed in 1996, but the trial did not begin until the early 2000s, and a verdict was reached in April. The London Eye, one of the largest Ferris wheels in Europe, which was completed in 1999, can be seen in scenes of the main character running through London. The attraction welcomed its first passengers on March 9, 2000.
