Short description
A story of a legendary battle, where seventeen fearless warriors defend their land against an army of thousands well-trained soldiers. In 13th-century Mongol warrior hordes and their leader, Batu Khan, control most of the known world. As the Mongols move towards Europe they invade the last Russian principality standing in their way. Little do they know, their plans are about to be ruined by a small detachment of heroic strong men led by a mysterious brave warrior. This is a story about courage, endurance and self-sacrifice for the sake of one's country. This is the story of Evpaty the Furious.

What's left behind the scenes

  • Oleg Stepchenko was initially appointed as the director of the film, but he declined due to his commitment to the film 'The Mystery of the Dragon Seal'.
  • Evpaty Kolovrat is a legendary Russian hero who fought against the Mongol-Tatar invaders in the 13th century.
  • The film was shot in Moscow, in specially constructed pavilions on the territory of the ZIL plant, where the largest chromakey pavilions in Europe were built, with a total area of over 4,000 square meters. Adjacent pavilions housed a training hall for actors and stunt performers, as well as an indoor riding arena and stables.
  • Of the real sets for the film, only a section of the fortress wall, city gates, fragments of the cathedral's interior, fragments of the princely chambers' interior, the interior of Kolovrat’s house, and fragments of Batu Khan’s tent were built.
  • The most laborious makeup on the project was for Batu Khan. Actor Alexander Tsoi, who played the khan, spent about an hour and a half in the makeup chair every day. Removing the "look" at the end of the shift took about an hour.
