Short description
The passionate Merchant-Ivory drama tells the story of Francoise Gilot, the only lover of Pablo Picasso who was strong enough to withstand his ferocious cruelty and move on with her life.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film is based on Arianna Huffington's book "Picasso: Creator and Destroyer".
- Since the filmmakers were unable to obtain permission to show Picasso's works, the film focuses more on the artist's personal life. The paintings that Picasso shows are not his most famous works. For example, when Picasso is painting "Guernica," the camera is positioned high above the painting, allowing only the work in progress to be seen.
