What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is partially based on real events and was made in close collaboration with the FBI and its director, J. Edgar Hoover. The film uses real surveillance footage of German spies provided by the FBI, demonstrates the most advanced technical means of counterintelligence work, and FBI agents were used as extras in the film.
  • The filming took place in the very locations in New York and Washington where the actual FBI operations had been conducted.
