The film is based on the true story of Eric LeMarque, who became stranded in the snow while snowboarding on snowy peaks and spent 7 days there.
This is the first project of Tooley Productions, founded by producer Tucker Tooley. Tooley and Scott Waugh had previously worked together on the film "Bolden" (2012).
Mira Sorvino and Josh Hartnett play the roles of mother and son, although in reality the age difference between them is 11 years.
