- Ariel Bess’s parents sued the film’s distributors and producers over a poster depicting the young Bess sitting on Patrick Devereux’s lap with a bare chest. The actress’s mother argued that placing such a poster could be seen as “sexual exploitation” of her daughter’s image. The lawsuit was lost. The judge ruled in favor of the producers, stating that Ariel Bess’s image was “clearly exploited more in the film than on the poster.” Her mother’s argument that the same image in the film and on the poster could have a completely different context was not taken into consideration.
