• The title "Scary Movie" was a working title for "Scream." Both films were released under the Dimension Films banner.
• The prototype for Anna Faris's character was Neve Campbell, who starred in all four parts of "Scream." It's not surprising that the main character's name is Cindy Campbell.
• The film's plot was a kind of combination of two screenplays acquired by Dimension Films back in 1998. Their titles fully reflect the parodic nature of the film: “Last Summer I Screamed Because Halloween Fell on Friday the 13th” and “Scream If You Know What I Did Last Halloween.”
• The name of the school that the film's main characters attend sounds something like “Corpse High School.”
• Interestingly, all the actors who played teenagers in the film are actually over 25, and some are even 30.
• The role of Brenda was offered to singer Aaliyah, but she declined.
• The role of Drew was offered to Jenny McCarthy, but she chose to star in “Scream 3,” which was filmed concurrently and released in the same year, 2000.
