- To emphasize Elvira Madigan's mixed heritage, her lines in Swedish were dubbed by Danish actress Yvonne Ingdal, while Swedish actress Pia Degermark, who played Elvira, dubbed the few scenes in which her character spoke Danish. As a result, she was constantly speaking with an accent.
