• Kate Mara and Elliot Page had wanted to work together for some time. Considering nothing interesting came their way, they decided to produce their own project and took Joe Barton’s screenplay, which had remained unclaimed for eight years at that point.
• For many years, Kate Mara refused to do nude scenes. Throughout her career, there were occasional shoots where she was shown briefly without clothes, but no more than that. In this project, she not only agreed to appear nude, but also engaged in lovemaking with another woman (Page was officially recognized as a woman at the time of filming). Mara later said that it all felt quite natural, because she and Page were perfectly comfortable with each other.
