• Jonah Hill confessed that he was motivated to film this movie by the dramas of Larry Clark, 'Kids' (1995), and Shane Meadows, 'This Is England' (2006).
• Jonah Hill admitted in an interview that he feared accusations of intolerance due to the constant swearing in the film, and he even considered inserting a scene where the guys discuss whether or not to use such words in their speech. He showed this scene to producer Scott Rudin, who asked him: “Did you and your friends worry about this as kids?” Hill had to answer negatively, and the matter was settled.
• To help the young actors better feel the atmosphere of the 1990s, Jonah Hill gave them tablets with a list of his favorite songs from that time. In addition, the shooting period included evenings when everyone watched films from those years.
• After a preview, the filmmakers were told how great it was that they had discovered a film from the 1990s and decided to release it.
