- In the film, Veronica and her classmates play with a Ouija board during a total solar eclipse on June 12, 1991. In reality, the total solar eclipse occurred on July 11, 1991.
- All the instrumental songs in the soundtrack are by the Spanish rock band Heroes del Silencio. Veronica listens to their songs on a Walkman. She has at least 2 posters and 1 calendar of the band hanging in her room. In some scenes, Veronica wears a T-shirt with the band's name.
- The film is based on real events that occurred with Estefanía Gutiérrez Lázaro and her family in 1991. Eighteen-year-old Estefanía, a few months after playing with a Ouija board with two classmates, began to see and feel paranormal activity in her home. She died on August 14, 1991, six months after the first game with the Ouija board. After her death, paranormal activity in the house increased. This was recorded in an official report by officers of the National Police Corps of Spain, who witnessed these phenomena on November 27, 1992.
