Short description
20 years after three teenagers disappeared in the wake of mysterious lights appearing above Phoenix, Arizona, unseen footage from that night has been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The plot is based on the story of the "Phoenix Lights" – a series of optical phenomena (commonly referred to as UFOs) observed in the skies over the states of Arizona and Nevada and the Mexican state of Sonora on March 13, 1997.
  • Archival footage from CNN was used in the scene of the press conference of Arizona Governor Fife Symington (1991-1995, 1995-1997), in which he ridiculed both the phenomenon itself and its witnesses.
  • The final scenes of the film show a video camera falling out of a spaceship. The filmmakers actually attached a small camera to a weather balloon, and when the balloon burst, the camera fell. To the filmmakers' surprise, only the camera's casing and lens were broken upon impact, while all the internal mechanisms remained intact, and the camera continued to film.
