What's left behind the scenes

  • The director offered Doug Bradley to reprise his role as the lead cenobite as he had in all the previous films except the ninth, but he declined. Paul T. Taylor ultimately took on the role.
  • The director initially intended to give the appearance of the Auditor, played by Gary J. Tannehill, to Pinhead. It was demonstrated at the studio when a complete reboot of the "Hellraiser" franchise was initially planned, but then it was decided to film a simple sequel, and this appearance was given to the Auditor.
  • At the request of Gary J. Tannehill, the film's producers contacted Damon Carney's wife in secret and gleaned certain information about his past, which they then used during the filming of the scene where he himself undergoes an "audit"; at the end of one of the takes, Carney shouted: "What the hell?! That's really scary!"
