A film adaptation of two books from the series of novels about Angelique by Anne and Serge Golon: "Angelique, Indomitable" (final chapters) and the chapter with the same name "Angelique and the Sultan" from the book "Angelique, Rebel" (also: "Angelique, Revolt" / "Angelique in Revolt" / "The Rebel from Poitou").
The film crew was received by the first President of Tunisia, Habib Bourguiba himself.
Many scenes of the film were shot in Tunisia, for example, in the city of Sidi Bou Said, particularly in the palace of Baron Rudolf d'Erlange, around the Ribat in the city of Monastir, in the amphitheater of El Jem, in the Gulf of La Marsa, and so on.
The actress who played the role of the Sultan's main wife, Leila, Vilma Lindamar, and the actor who played the Sultan, Ali Ben Ayed, were actually married in real life.
