What's left behind the scenes
- While practicing on the ice at the United Center indoor sports arena with a puck, Kevin James managed to fall and crash into the goal. The extras in the stands, without coordinating, began to sing the Chelsea Dagger sports anthem. (In reality, this is a song by the Scottish rock band The Fratellis from their debut album 'Costello Music' in 2006.)
- Jennifer Garner was initially cast for the role of Beth, but the actress left the project, and Jennifer Connelly played Beth instead.
- The film was shot in Chicago, Illinois.
- Hockey game scenes: the film shows excerpts from the game between the professional NHL teams Chicago Blackhawks and Columbus Blue Jackets on March 28, 2010. The former played at home and won 4-2.
