Short description
Joshua “J” is taken in by his extended family after his mother dies of an overdose. The clan, ruled by J’s scheming grandmother, is heavily involved in criminal activities, and J is soon indoctrinated into their way of life. But J is given a chance to take another path when a cop seeks to help him.
What's left behind the scenes
- Before filming began, Ben Mendelsohn and Luke Ford decided to stop communicating with each other in order to more convincingly play brothers who hate each other.
- A loose adaptation of the story of Melbourne's criminal underworld, and specifically the notorious Pettingill crime family. The scene depicting the murder of police officers in the film recreates the murder of police officers on Walsh Street in Melbourne in 1988.
