Short description
A gritty crime saga which follows the lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank.

What's left behind the scenes

  • To enhance realism during filming, two training camps were created – one for the actors playing police officers and one for those portraying criminals. The creators aimed to foster a spirit of competition within the film crew. Furthermore, military consultant Paul Morris developed an individual training program for each group.
  • The film is set in Los Angeles, however, due to an ice storm, filming had to be moved to Atlanta.
  • Most of the characters in the film turned out as envisioned in the script. Except for the character of O'Shea Jackson Jr. – due to the actor's age (born in 1991), some changes were made to his character's personality.
  • Six years before filming started, the action script fell into the hands of 50 Cent. The musician was impressed by the story, especially its characters. At the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, 50 Cent personally approached one of the film's producers with a request to participate in the project.
  • For the role of Big Nick, Gerard Butler gained almost 15 kilograms.
  • The prototype for Big Nick (Gerard Butler) was Jerry, a film consultant who had spent years moving in criminal circles.
  • Work on the film began in 2003, when director Christian Gudegast and the screenwriter received a carte blanche from New Line Cinema, and continued for almost 14 years. At one point, the now-defunct Relativity Media was considered as the film's distributor.
