Short description
A suburban family is torn apart when fourteen-year-old Annie meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents are shattered by their daughter's actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life.
What's left behind the scenes
- Will's email correspondence was borrowed from an online conversation between visitors to the Perverted Justice website under the nicknames fleet_captain_jamie_wolfe and sadligrrl.
- The film is based on a story by actor and director David Schwimmer, whose name, however, is not in the credits. Schwimmer was inspired to write it by his long-term collaboration with The Rape Foundation, an organization created to help victims of sexual assault.
