What's left behind the scenes
- The film has a sort of sequel – a documentary titled “Rembrandt: I Accuse.” It was also directed by Peter Greenaway and released in 2008.
- Rembrandt’s “The Night Watch” (1606-1669) is considered one of the most famous works of art.
- This is the first film in Peter Greenaway’s “Dutch Masters” series. The second was the 2012 film “Goltzius and the Pelican Company,” and the third was the 2016 film about Hieronymus Bosch (c. 1450-1516).
- The painting by Rembrandt was created in 1642. In reality, it is a group portrait titled “The Shooting Company of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq and Lieutenant Willem van Ruytenburch.”
