What's left behind the scenes
- Originally, Alejandro Jodorowsky was to direct the film, with Alan Klein, who had previously funded his earlier films “The Mole” (1970) and “The Holy Mountain” (1973), as producer. However, Jodorowsky left the project, which ultimately led to disagreements with Klein, which were not resolved until 2005.
- The castle in the film was shot at five different castles.
