Kate Hudson was pregnant during filming.
The film was shot on the same streets in the Queens borough of New York City where Andrew Bergman filmed the comedy "Lucky Break" in 1994, and Sam Raimi filmed the superhero movie "Spider-Man" (2002).
During filming, director Garry Marshall (1934-2016) called Kate Hudson "Goldie." Marshall had worked with Hudson's mother, actress Goldie Hawn, on the comedy "Overboard" (1987) and constantly confused the two, claiming they looked very alike and even acted the same. The actress took it in stride, but the film crew started a special box where the director would put $5 each time he got the actress's name wrong. By the end of filming, the box had accumulated a substantial amount, which Hudson used to throw a party for the entire film crew.
