What's left behind the scenes
- Daniel Radcliffe began studying and practicing an Australian accent six months before filming began.
- When the film was being made, Freddie Highmore was originally intended for the role (he was 13 at the time). His mother, who also served as his agent, also represented Daniel Radcliffe (who was 16 during filming). Highmore had to withdraw from filming because his grandfather fell ill and he was unable to leave England and fly to Australia for filming, so the role went to Radcliffe.
- At the 22nd minute, the car travels on the right side of the road, while in Australia, traffic flows on the left.
