During breaks in filming, Louis de Funès enjoyed parodying American police officers in front of the public, for which the latter presented him with a complete set of genuine police uniform.
The film was released in the Soviet Union under the title "Mr. Krusho in New York".

The musical "game of nerves" that Krusho engages in with New York hooligans is a parody of the musical "West Side Story".
