What's left behind the scenes
- Some German soldiers' helmets feature a skull image. Such images were present on the helmets of a Finnish military unit (the 1st Battalion of the 46th Infantry Regiment) during the Soviet-Finnish War of 1941-1946 (referred to as the Continuation War in Finnish historiography). There is a famous photograph of three Finnish soldiers in a trench, who are often mistakenly taken for Hitlerites or SS personnel.
