- The film was completed but not released in 2018, as originally planned. This was the first year since 1981 that a new Woody Allen film was not shown in cinemas. From his directorial debut in 1969, Allen has filmed one film a year, writing the script himself, with exceptions in 1970, 1974, 1976, 1981, and now in 2018.
- In the 1950s, Harold Flender, Timothée Chalamet's maternal grandfather, co-wrote scripts for Sid Caesar with Woody Allen. Allen was unaware of this when he cast Timothée Chalamet in the lead role.
