What's left behind the scenes

Jean-François Richet and Vincent Cassel, together with the choreographers, had to invent a new form of martial art for the film.
The original title of the film translates to "The Emperor of Paris".
Filming took place at an old air force base near Bretigny-sur-Orge and Plessis-Pâté in the Essonne department, as well as at the estates of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Fontainebleau.
While working on the film, Jean-François Richet drew inspiration from the universe and characters of the novels by Alexandre Dumas père (1802-1870), as well as from popular literature of the early 20th century.
The original title of the film translates to “The Emperor of Paris.”
