What's left behind the scenes

  • Jean-François Richet and Vincent Cassel, together with the choreographers, had to invent a new form of martial art for the film.
  • The original title of the film translates to "The Emperor of Paris".
  • Filming took place at an old air force base near Bretigny-sur-Orge and Plessis-Pâté in the Essonne department, as well as at the estates of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Fontainebleau.
  • While working on the film, Jean-François Richet drew inspiration from the universe and characters of the novels by Alexandre Dumas père (1802-1870), as well as from popular literature of the early 20th century.
  • The original title of the film translates to “The Emperor of Paris.”
