Short description
When two young lovers are savagely beaten and tortured on a back country road in Texarkana, local police are baffled and must find "the Phantom Killer" before he can kill again.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The film is based on real events that took place in a small town in 1946. Five people died, and several were injured. The crimes remain unsolved.
  • Some shots of the swamps at the end of the film are borrowed from Charles B. Pierce's (1938-1020) horror film "The Legend of Boggy Creek" (1972), Pierce's first feature film.
  • What the killer wears on his head inspired the creators of Jason Voorhees' mask in Steve Miner's horror film "Friday the 13th – Part 2" (1981).
  • In the scene with the passing train, an operator with a camera is visible on one of the platforms.
